Solar PV Systems
The solar revolution is here and without doubt, it makes financial sense to invest in your property and future energy costs by installing a Solar PV System.
Driven by advances in technology and the UK Government feed-in tariff; both domestic and commercial properties can benefit:
- Saving on fuel costs
Sunlight is free, so once you’ve paid for the initial installation your fuel costs will be significantly less
· Guaranteed income
The UK Government will guarantee your Feed in Tariff for 25 years; leaving you plenty of time to realise your return on
investment and provide you with a regular income driven from the energy you produce.
- Generating, clean renewable energy
Solar electricity is renewable and doesn’t release harmful gases or pollutants - Actively reduce carbon footprint
We all have to look at ways we can reduce our carbon footprint and the impact we have on the environment
One of the major benefits of installing a Solar PV System before 31st March 2012 is you can sell the electricity you make back to the national grid under the UK government’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT), at the maximum rate. For the average size domestic property this should amount to an annual tax-free income of approx £1,000.
The UK Government will guarantee your Feed in Tariff scheme for 25 years; leaving you plenty of time to realise your return on investment and provide you with a regular income derived from the energy you produce.
Driven by EU targets the government must reduce energy consumption; and therefore has introduced the tariff to encourage property owners to install solar energy. The scheme heavily rewarding those who take part in the scheme sooner rather than later.
How a system works
Solar Photovoltaics (PV) is the method of generating renewable energy from the sun, by converting solar radiation into electricity.
Photovoltaics (PV) is made up of two words - “photo”, meaning light, and “voltaic”, meaning electricity and contrary to popular belief PV systems don’t need bright sunlight in order to generate electricity – they work quite differently to solar thermal panels which rely on the sun’s rays to generate heat, usually for hot water.
What size system should you install
The number of modules (connected to form an array) will depend on the size of the system you can install on your property, your budget and your energy needs.
Installation
Solar PV panels can be installed on most pitched roofs which have exposure to natural daylight, however they can also be freestanding or mounted on flat roofs.
